100 Club!
We all are a part of it! Congratulations and thank you for helping us!
Reading:
We have read some great books about transportation. Non-fiction books were read at the beginning of the week to teach us about all the different kinds. Fictional books were read towards the end to build our schema and we made some great connections.
We also drew our own transportation and wrote about it.
Consonants:
We spent lots of time learning the difference between vowels and consonants.
Math:
We have been practicing our subtraction with rek-en-reks, number lines, and cuisinaire rods.
We hopped back on our lining up number line to solve subtraction problems! :)
We practice addition and subtraction-it was tricky if we didn't pay attention to the symbol telling us what to do.
The orange rod represents 10 and so so found all the different ways to make/break 10 with the other colored rods.
Unit Study:
We have started classifying animals. :) It was funny to see them when they heard Sid from Ice Age call themselves mammals. Their eyes lit up and they all shouted, "MAMMALS!"
5MTOW:
Take off the ending sounds of words and say what is left. For example, if you said say the word make with the /k/ sound, you would have said may. This was challenging for some kids on the phonological awareness screen.
