Week of Learning 10/26

Fall Party!
Thank you all who helped me it such a great event. All afternoon the kids kept saying how it was the BEST party ever! Plus, I knocked something off my bucket list-make a scarecrow!

Great read aloud...

Reading:
We read Ladybug Girl books this week and made great connections, especially to Halloween since she dresses up too!
Plus Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy show us where the bathrooms are in the atrium.

We also made connections to overalls since many of the kids didn't know what they were and we had 1 student wearing them!!!

Writing:
We have drawn some fantastic pictures and written some amazing labels with them. We also have written some great lists. Now we are ready to move onto sentences. But first, we had to talk about the difference between a letter, a word (group of letters), and a sentence (group of words).

We learned about the letter Oo this week and made some Octopi.

Unit Study:
We finished learning about community helpers and made some awesome posters.

And I love our graph!!! :)

We also read

and drew what we wanted to be.

Math:
We learned about the shapes circle, triangle, square, and rectangle. We talked about how many sides they had as well as corners. Plus, we talked about the words above, next to, and below.

5MTOW:
Say a number and have your child tell you the number just after. For example, if I said 8, Aubrey would say 9. If they have trouble telling you right away, have them go back to 1 and count up to 8. That usually helps. Also, alternate counting will help support them with this. You say 1 and they will say 2, you 3, them 4, etc. Kick it up a notch after that by starting at any number. For example, I could start with 8, and Aubrey would say 9, etc.
