Week of Learning 5/9

ABC COUNTDOWN:

We are in full swing counting down the days until summer! So far it has been so much fun with crazy hair, being with our buddies, and flying paper airplanes. Check out the right side of the blog for a calendar filled with events!

Reading:
We continued learning about questioning, but this week we learned that we can ask RIGHT THERE questions. They are called RIGHT THERE because they can be answered RIGHT THERE in the text!  (It was so fun saying it loud and pointing to the book!)

Letters:
We finished learning about the /th/ sound just in time for PALS! We made "things" to celebrate. Aren't they cute?

Math:
We finished up our unit on Addition by solving problems with a number line, drawing pictures or using manipulatives.

Unit Study:
We started talking about animals and their life cycle, as well as their needs. It was great to compare them to plants, since they are both living things. We also started talking about the life cycle of a butterfly and compared that to other animals like dogs because butterflies go through such BIG changes!

5MTOW:
Now that your child understands basic addition, have him/her practice his/her addition facts as much as possible. There are lots of good apps to help it but even saying problems in the car like 1+1, 1+2, 1+3, etc. will be helpful.

FIELD TRIP:
We had a great time!!! :) If you have pictures, feel free to send and I can upload them.

We also wrote about our trip when we got back and created a class book.
