Happy Spring! I think!?
Lots to catch up so here goes! :)
Spring Party:
We had a great time hunting for Easter Eggs, creating crafts and eating some yummy snacks. Yet again, another student said it was the best day ever so thank you parents for creating some amazing, festive events!
Reading:
We have been reading fiction texts centered around two animals: ducks and bears. We summarize those texts and then read some non-fiction texts on the same topic and list the details learned. It is a great way to compare fiction vs. non-fiction texts. And just like our butterflies and frogs, we wrote our own class book about ducks and bears.
We love seeing NF texts with a table of contents so we can pick what we want to read about. We picked Sun Bears.
An index also helps us find what we want to read.
Letters and Sight Words:
We have worked on the digraph brothers-Shawn, Theodore, and Charlie. We also learned about the letters Ww and Xx.
Mrs. Kayes works hard on our concept of word with us!
We have to reorder the poem.
We have to practice pointing to the words.
Math:
We continued learning about the coins and how to add them up especially when you combine nickels and pennies! Please practice this at home!
Unit Study:
We had fun learning about spring!
They LOVE painting!
This is one of my favorite crafts! :)

We reviewed sorting. Yum!
After Spring Break, we started learning about our Earth and how to care for it.
5MTOW:
Part of phonological awareness is substituting or manipulating the sounds or syllables in words. Try this at home: Say a compound word like cupcake. Ask your child to take off the cup word and add the word stair to create a new word-staircake. Keep practicing with the first word in a compound word and then move to the last word. :)
